PRODUCT INFORMATION

TWO-PART? WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

You'll see that when your bottle of LinkLube has been sat still for a while, it will settle with the clear base lube on top and a mystery blue secret sauce slowly falling to the bottom of the bottle. Fear not! This is an important feature which enables our lube to be used in all weather conditions.

The secret sauce is a unique compound of oils and waxes which are usually only found individually in either wet or dry lubes. With a lot of hard work in the lab, we’ve managed to blend them together into a single super lube which can provide incredible long-lasting protection in the wet, while remaining uncharacteristically clean in dry and dusty conditions.

The clear base lube is an anti-corrosive, fast penetrating, water displacing oil which - when shaken up with the secret sauce - will find its way into every nook and cranny of your chain. Once it reaches the inner depths of your chain links, the base oil will drive out moisture, grit and grime and leave behind the special sauce to reduce friction, reduce vibration and reduce drivetrain noise.

SCIENCE YO!

When LinkLube is first used on a used (but seemingly clean) drivetrain, the chain may go black pretty quick. Uh oh, don’t panic! This is actually the LinkLube pushing out grime that has been hiding away inside your rollers.

Simply keep degreasing and re-applying and, over a few rides, your chain will eventually run truly clean once again!

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Fully degrease drivetrain before applying fresh lube to ensure there is no old chain oil present. For best results, use our Foaming Drivetrain Degreaser or XXX Solvent Degreaser to remove stubborn factory greases in the case of brand new chains.
  2. Ensure you thoroughly rinse your chain with clean water after degreasing (degreaser is designed to eat chain oil after all)
  3. Remove as much water as you can from the chain. For best results, use Peaty's PT17 Biodegradable Maintenance Spray
  4. Give the bottle a good shake to evenly distribute the secret sauce
  5. Apply the lube while cycling the chain backwards (eBikes will need to be pedalled forwards in a stand) ensuring every link is adequately covered
  6. Keep cycling the chain for 10 seconds or so to help the lube work its way into your chain
  7. Thoroughly wipe away all excess lube from your chain using a clean cloth (excess oil on the outside of the chain will attract dust in dry conditions).

TIPS
For wet weather conditions, leave a small amount of lube on the outside of the chain for longer-lasting protection.
On first use with pre-used chains, you may find that your chain turns black - this is the LinkLube driving out grime from deep in your chain. Just keep riding, degreasing, lubing and repeating until your chain runs shiny clean once more!

CAUTION
Do not get LinkLube (or any lube for that matter!) on your brakes or brake pads.

FAQS

What type of lubricant is best for bike chains?

The basic requirements for a bicycle chain lubricant is for it to keep your chain quiet and smooth while also lasting a long time and keeping your drivetrain clean as possible. The best type of chain lubricant for a bicycle depends heavily on the weather and conditions you are riding in.

For dry and dusty conditions you need our LinkLube Dry chain lubricant which uses durable waxes for a long lasting smooth drivetrain. It also dries dry to the touch so that dust and dirt won’t stick to the chain.

For mixed and changeable (but not soaking wet) conditions our LinkLube All Weather uses a unique blend of waxes and greases to keep you rolling smooth in a wide variety of riding conditions. For even cleaner, longer-lasting performance try our LinkLube All Weather Premium.

For the wettest, filthiest riding conditions you need a chain lubricant which will not wash away at the first sight of a puddle. Our LinkLube Wet has a heavy dose of waxes and corrosion inhibitors to last even the longest, wettest day in the saddle.

Why does LinkLube All Weather settle out into two parts?

The clear base lube is an anti-corrosive, fast penetrating, water displacing oil and the blue part is a compound of high grade greases, waxes and a tiny amount of PTFE. Once shaken together the clear penetrating oil will find its way into every nook and cranny of your chain and deliver the blue part right where it’s needed. Once it reaches the inner depths of your chain links, the base oil will drive out moisture, grit and grime and leave behind the special sauce to reduce friction, reduce vibration and reduce drivetrain noise. Magic!

How do you apply lubricant to a bike chain?

  1. Always fully degrease your drivetrain before applying fresh lube. For best results, use Peaty's Drivetrain Degreaser.
  2. Ensure you thoroughly wash your chain with clean water after degreasing (degreaser is designed to eat chain oil after all)
  3. Remove as much water as you can from the chain. For best results, use Peaty's PT17 General Maintenance Spray.
  4. Give the bottle a good shake

CAUTION
Do not get LinkLube (or any lube for that matter!) on your brakes or brake pads.

Do I need to clean off excess lubricant?

Yes, for All Weather and Wet lubricants, thoroughly wipe away all excess lube from your chain using a clean cloth. Excess oil on the outside of the chain will attract dust in dry conditions.

For dry lubricants you don’t need to wipe away any excess because dry lubricants remain dry to the touch so will not attract dust.

Why do I need to use chain lubricant?

A good chain lubricant will reduce friction between chain and chainrings, improve shifting performance, reduce dirt build-up so make your drivetrain last longer, prevent corrosion, provide smoother, quieter, easier pedalling and either not wash away easily (if wet lubricant) or not attract dust or dirt (if dry lubricant)... In short, yes.

Does the chain lubricant clean my chain?

Our unique two-part All Weather formula penetrates and cleans deep inside your chain, driving out moisture, grit and grime and replacing them with a unique blend of oils and waxes. Yes, you read that correctly! LinkLube All Weather actually cleans your chain as you use it!

When LinkLube All Weather is first applied to a used (but seemingly clean) drivetrain, the chain may go black pretty quick. Uh oh, don’t panic! This is actually the LinkLube All Weather pushing out the grime that has been hiding away inside your rollers. Simply keep degreasing and re-applying and, over a few rides, your chain will eventually run truly clean once again!

Do I need to clean by drivetrain before use?

Yes, we recommend using our Foaming Drivetrain Degreaser to thoroughly clean your chain before application. For new chains with stubborn factory grease we recommend using our XXX Solvent Degreaser.

Can I use this chain lube in dry conditions?

For best results in very dry conditions we recommend Peaty’s LinkLube Dry.

Can I use this chain lube in wet conditions?

For best results in wet conditions we recommend Peaty’s LinkLube Wet.

Do I apply lubricant to my cassette?

You don’t need to apply lubricant to your cassette.

Noticeably reduces friction and noise

Very slippery stuff, as you spin your cranks and apply the lube you can hear the reduction in noise :)

Buy the bottles not the refill

I love bottles so much I bought the refill pack from Peaty's directly , however, there seems to be constitentcy issue when you mix the refill , put into the bottle. It's now more runny/watery from the refill than the bottle version and now the chain dosent stay as clean and loads ends up on the floor . I'm going to try Fenwicks all weather to see to if it's any better.

Just really great Chain Lube.

This stuff works very well and lasts. Great for those dusty rides that may include a creek crossing or two or with a chance of rain. Cleans the chain great to keep you riding smooth between washes.

良い香り^_^

浸透性が良く、回転がスムーズ。ミントの香りで、給油中に癒されます。粘度が低いので、下に垂れるので汚れてもよいところか、防止策をした方が良いです。

Genuinely surprised at how good this is

After years and years of trying different lubes that all claim they are the best, this is the first one that I can actually say is noticeably better than anything else I've tried. Very smooth running and seems to deal with my local sandy trails very well.

Awesome! Riding dry SW USA conditions and it works great. the minty smell is a fun thing too. It comes out quick/watery so no real need to squeeze the bottle — just let it drip out.

Wonder lube..

Been using Muc-off for ages now but thought I’d try the peatys range of gear. On first glance it seems thin, but I think that may the reason it works so well! It really gets into the chain and coat every part. The chain definitely runs smoother and collect less grime, and when you give it a wipe and reapply, it comes up now and shiny again 👍

Sound as a pound!!!!

This has to be the best wet lube ive used full stop !!! Forget the rest this is the best !Ive tried everything on the market and honestly cant find a drip on lube that that works like it. No more black gunked up chains this cleans as it works it way in , and cleaning is a doddle! And as for the pervious review saying it like water ! Yes its thin as this is how it dose its magic so they have probably not even given it a proper run !!!!! Ive used this enduro racing , on long rides in the peaks and on the kids bikes ! Its mega!!!The only thing ive found that probably tops this stuff is a wax application like bananaslip but a nightmare to apply!!Oh and almost forgot it smells minty fresh!!!!
